At LipoPractice we see the PronoKal Method ® as the strictest and most potent form to lose weight. Your intake of carbohydrates gets extremely minimized. Your nutrition will be based on an individually controlled use of high value proteins, vitamins, minerals and fats. To be most effective, we will try to bring your metabolism into Ketosis. Most patients tolerate Ketosis very well, in fact feel pretty good after a short time of adopting to it. Only some of our patients prefer a milder form of PronoKal in which the carb reduction is not that extreme. Either way, we guide you through those decisions. Our medical supervision here at LipoPractice forms part of a multidisciplinary team. PronoKal has registered dietitians, psychological advisers, personal trainers. Even more, there is a whole scientific department in the background which supports patients, dieticians and doctors alike, if needed for special cases. The PronoKal approach to supervised weight loss became a success internationally.
The method is divided into three stages: Active (Ketosis) –> Re-education –> Maintenance
The stages enable you to reach the desired weight and maintain it long term. During the diet, you are not only losing weight – but you acquire new knowledge, overall healthier eating habits and physical activity becomes routine part of your life.
In short, for the PronoKal option you will need a health check with blood tests and commitment. We will target your programme so that you achieve 80% of your weight reduction during this first stage. To achieve this, each patient follows a diet composed PronoKal protein products and some fresh vegetables. This is combined with the correct supplementation of vitamins, minerals and nutritional fats. As time goes bye and the body weight comes down, the protein products get gradually replaced with regular protein rich foods. The first stage is called the active stage because your body gets and remains in Ketosis. This process will be closely monitored by the prescribing doctor at LipoPractice.
Stage 2 (Re-education stage)
This second stage is characterized by the progressive introduction of different food groups in the diet, allowing for the further 20% of the target weight loss to be achieved. The rate of weight reduction during this second stage is slower than in the first stage, which is essential to enable for physiological adjustments and re-stabilization. Throughout this stage, the dietitians will advise the patient and help in the adoption of a healthier lifestyle.
Stage 3 (Maintenance stage)
Once the target weight is reached, the prescribing doctor moves the patient to this stage. This final stage lasts two years, during which the patient will follow a completely normal and balanced diet under the dietitians´ supervision (free of charge), with the aim on maintaining the achieved healthy weight.
The work of doctors and dietitians is complemented with the participation of the personal trainer and psychological coach. The role of the personal trainer is to advise the patient on appropriate exercises for each stage of treatment (many of which can be done at home). The aim is to speed-up the metabolic rate, accelerating the weight loss and improving muscle tone. The psychological coach helps the patient to find the intellectual and emotional tools that reinforce the commitment to following the path towards acquiring a healthy weight and improved quality of life.
